Castlevania-Retro Review #2-NES Review #1
Ah, Castlevania. How I love this game. It is one of my favorite games of all time and spawned one of my favorite game franchises. I truly do love the castlevania games, with a few exceptions **Cough**Adventures**Cough**
Either way this particular game on the NES is a masterpiece so let's delve in to the original Castlevania.
Story-In this game you play as Simon Belmont a vampire hunter who has to kill Dracula. Of course he has to get through his castle which won't be easy. Along the way you'll fight many monsters like mermen and medusa.
Gameplay-Castlevania, like most NES games, is an action side scroller platformer. The level design is splendid. It's gothic and is all the levels are unique and fun to play through. There are also a variety of secrets in castlevania and every time I play the game I find a new one. The controls are kind of stiff but it's not to bad and you'll be able to get use to it. The main thing you'll do in this game is use your whip to kill monsters and I gotta say killing monsters with the whip is so satisfying. There are also many other items as well. By the way for anyone who hasn't played the game yet the hearts don't refill health. They are ammo for your items. You'll need pork chops you find in walls to regain health.
The boss fights are great fun as well. There all unique and fun to fight. Now this game is hard but every time you die you feel like it's your fault not the games. It's still has a fair challenge.
But this game gets everything right. The items are all fun and helpful to use, the level design is great, the controls are pretty good, and there are many secrets that you can try to find. The gameplay has so many good things going for it.
Gameplay score-9/10
Graphics
The graphics are pretty good. They're detailed and add a gothic but charming atmosphere to the game. They are actually really good by NES standards.
Graphics Score-8/10
Sound-The soundtrack is one of the best on NES. Every tune is an 8-bit masterpiece. Each piece of music pulls you in and really gets you hyped up. It's really great. Like I'd download this on ITunes
Sound Score-8/10
Enjoyment-I really enjoy almost everything about this game. It's frustrating but it's fair and still fun. I love the music, the atmosphere, the gameplay ,everything. My enjoyment level of this game is really high. I loved fighting monsters, I loved the bosses, all the items it was a blast.
Enjoyment Score-18.5/20
Overall-43.5/50
Grade-87%. B
So yeah my review of castlevania. Personally I think this game should probably get an A but hey it still got an awesome score. If you haven't played this game go play it. Or play any of the other castlevania games(except Adventure). Well hope you enjoyed the review. I'll see you guys later.

How do I score video games
So even though I explained a little about I score video games in my wizard of oz review I guess I didn't do to good a job as some were confused. So with that said this will tell you how a game gets it's score.
I start off with the story. I don't give the story a numerical score, unlike the others, because story in a game doesn't matter. Sure it can make a game more interesting but you don't need a story.
I then go to game play. I talk about what I like and don't like about it and then give it a numerical score based on What I feel the gameplay deserves. Usually if the gameplay has a low score motpre than likely so well the final score.
I then talk about sound. This includes voices, music, and other sound fx.
This is not a very important category but it still has some value.
Then I do graphics. Pretty self explanatory and like sound not a very important category but still has value.
Then we come to the big one. My enjoyment. Enjoyment is the biggest factor so unlike the other categories I take this one out of 20 points instead of 10.
After that I add up all the scores so the final score is out of 50.
So let's just say I gave gameplay 7/10 sound 3/10 graphics 3/10 and enjoyment 10/20.
That means the final score is 23/50
I then do division to get a percentage. So with this score I would do 23 divided by 50.
So that would be 0.46 or 46%. That's an F
Heres the grade scale
100%-A+
99-90%-A
89-80-B
79-70-C
69-60-D
59 or below-F
So as you can see a game as a pretty high chance of getting an F. Now sometime I don't agree with a score. For example let's say I give a game a 9/10 on gameplay and a 18/20 in enjoyment but a 3/10 for sound and graphics. That's 33/50 33 divided by 50 would give the game a 66% which is a D. Hopefully this won't happen but this is a major flaw in my system cause as I said music and graphics aren't as important but yet still have major weight when deciding what grade a game gets. If I disagree with any score I'll say so but sometimes a game deserves it's score. Like wizard of Oz.
So hope that shed some light on things. See you later.

Wizard of Oz the game-Retro Review #1-SNES Review #1
When I heard about this game for the first time I was seriously surprised. I never thought a game based on wizard of Oz existed. Now remember how magical oz was the first time you saw if. A place like that must make for at least a decent game. But no this game is awful. It is one of the worst games I have ever played and I couldn't pick a better choice as my first review.
Let's dig in to this pile of crap.
Story-The story is the same classic one as the movie just not explained as well. So if you know anything about Oz you know the story.
Gameplay-The level design isn't actually that bad. It's actually decent but the gameplay sucks. You have weapons but they are completely useless as they go in an arch they really don't hit many things. The best move pretty much is Dorothy's puny kick. Also I just wanna point out you move so slow. The worst thing about this game is that you fall through the platforms. Yes you fall through platforms. And it's not just with my cartridge from what I heard all copies of the game have this glitch. Wow. They didn't even test this game did they.
I guess it is kinda cool how you get to also play as tin man, cowardly lion, and scarecrow as well as Dorothy , and all the character have different abilities and moves to which is cool, but since this is a platform game there are a lot of platforms(obviously) so you will fall through them. Now you may say I'm just missing them but no you can land right in the middle and fall through. And it happens all the time.
I swear once I fell through solid ground. This makes the game almost unplayable.
Also occasionally you'll find a bone. Don't touch it it'll take you to a stupid mini game with toto.
GamePlay Score-3/10
Sound-The soundtrack consist of awful remakes of classic tunes from the movie. It gets annoying fast.
Sound Score-3/10
Graphics-The graphics are decent. Not the best but it's still the best part of the game. It's colorful the models look nice and everything just looks good.
See everything is appealing to look at.
Graphics Score-7/10
Enjoyment-Since enjoyment is the most essential part of any game I take this out of 20 point instead of 10. So even if this game has a major problem do I still enjoy it. Nope. This major problem of falling through platforms makes the game annoying, cheap, and unplayable. If this problem was fixed it would just be another average SNES game but no. The company just wanted to make a quick buck from this game and so didn't even try to fix this problem. Screw this game. I enjoyed different playable character but that's about it from this game.
Enjoyment Score-3/20
Final Score-I calculate the final score by taking all the previews scores from all the categories and adding them up. So the final score will be out of 50 point. I then give a grade.
So with that said the final score is-16/50
Grade-32% F
So yeah this game is awful. Don't play it. With that said though hope you enjoyed the review and hopefully the next game will be better.
Thanks :)
